Yellow Committee

Committee members are expected to attend both meetings, which will be in person. Locations will be communicated by the committee chairs. If committees decide on a site visit for one or more of the nonprofits, attendance will be based on availability.

Grants Review Process

Grants Review Committees (GRCs) are comprised of volunteers who are vital to the success of our organization. In this important and rewarding role, volunteers select the most qualified nonprofit to present their transformational projects at the Big Give. If you want to deepen your Impact involvement, to learn more about our local nonprofit partners and community issues and to build fellowship with other members, become a grants review volunteer. Volunteer sign up will be made available each year via our newsletter and Join Impact pages.

How Does It Work?

Grants Review Committee Process

  • Volunteers are divided into committees to facilitate the grants review process. Typically, volunteers are solicited at each event and in our newsletter starting at our first event in January.

  • Committees review grant applications from ALL focus areas.

  • This process ensures we consistently select the most qualified finalists, regardless of focus area. It also allows us to divide applications evenly among committees so volunteers are not overwhelmed by the number of applications needing review.

Grants Review Committee Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Read and evaluate a selection of grant applications provided for individual committee review in advance of the first meeting.

  • Attend a committee meeting in September to discuss all applications reviewed by that committee, and select up to three applicants for a group site visit.

  • Participate in two or more group site visits to learn more about the grant projects, and then give feedback to the Site Visit Captain.

  • Attend a second committee meeting in October to discuss the site visits, and select your finalist for the Big Give in November.
